Teacher

Shirley teaches, promotes and attends a wide variety of classes and workshops to expand her understanding of art and to continue to gain new ideas.  She continually shares her talent with others.  She is currently teaching classes through the Community Colleges of Spokane IEL Senior Program and at Spokane Art Supply.  Her classes and workshops include Watercolor, Drawing, Oils, Acrylics, Pastels, Colored Pencils, Chinese Painting and various other mediums.  Shirley's formal degree is in Visual Media Design Technology.

Shirley has studied Watercolor with Linda A. Doll, Karlyn Holman, Elizabeth Kincaid, Dale Laitinen, Tom Lynch, Diane Maxey, Stan Miller, Carrie Stuart Parks, Stephen Quiller, Ron Ranson, Charles Reid, and Lian Zhen.  Shirley is a Certified Terry Madden instructor.

She studied Drawing with Carrie Stuart Parks and Bob Stem; Oils with Robert Stem and Bob Walton; Pastels with Lesley Harrison; Colored Pencils with Gary Greene and Anne Kulberg; and Chinese Painting with Kiko Van Holt, Lian Zhen and Yuming Zhu.

Artist Statement

I believe that as an artist, it is a gift to create and share my ideas with others.  I believe my work travels where it needs to go and is seen by those who need to see it.
